How Allwyn Hellas Transformed Training into an Experience

A story from the Docebo × APPrendere × Allwyn Hellas webinar

Delivering training at scale is already a challenge. Building an experience that people actually want to use is even harder. This is the story of Allwyn Hellas, a multinational lottery and entertainment operator that, powered by Docebo and supported by APPrendere, launched its internal academy— the Allwyn Academy — engaging over 1,400 employees in just two and a half months.

The Problem Wasn’t the Platform

From the outset, the team realized that the core issue was not technology, but the learner experience.

“The ambition was clear: it had to be much more than just deploying a platform. We wanted an intuitive and relevant experience that people could truly relate to,” explained Efthalia Pappa, L&D Team Leader at Allwyn Hellas.

Learners had access to a wealth of content, but lacked a clear starting point and a solid link between training and career development. Hence the shift in perspective: stop thinking in terms of content volume and focus instead on learner behavior, making participation easier and more consistent. The challenge was not migrating content to Docebo, but redesigning the entire experience.

The Choices That Made the Difference

The key word was simplicity: streamlined pages, greater visibility for high-priority content, and an intuitive interface. “Simplicity had a bigger impact than we expected“, shared Stavroula Karra, L&D Sr. Specialist. “When people immediately understood how something worked, they started using it much faster.”

Around this foundation, the team built an adoption pathway consisting of focus groups and pre-launch testing to fine-tune the delivery, AI recommendations based on users’ actual interests, dedicated training for managers and learners, and a phased launch complete with an event, rewards, and follow-ups. Managers also played a pivotal role: equipped with real-time dashboards and reporting, they shifted from passive observers to active facilitators of team growth.

Gamification was a chapter itself. “We treated it as a business tool, not as decoration,” emphasized Stavroula. Points, badges, leaderboards, and a rewards shop featuring real prizes were designed to reinforce the behaviors that matter: more exploration, more return visits, and participation beyond mandatory compliance training.

Results in the First Three Months

  • 12,626 hours of e-learning,
  • 1,201 active learners,
  • an average of 10.75 hours per user,
  • a satisfaction score of 4.61 out of 5 (around 92%).

Yet the most significant sign was something else: people didn’t stop after their first login—they kept coming back. Training ceased to be a standalone initiative and became part of the daily workplace experience.

The Role of APPrendere

Behind such a rapid implementation was the work of APPrendere, the Docebo partner that guided Allwyn through every step. “It was a true partnership,” stated Dharam Muscas, Project Manager at APPrendere. “What impressed me most was the team’s discipline in translating strategy into execution.”

With a dedicated team: project manager, LMS administrator, deployment manager, and an in-house creative crew, APPrendere configured the platform, managed data migration, and customized pages to maximize Docebo’s potential. It was this seamless coordination that aligned technology, communication, and creative assets under extremely tight deadlines, turning a fast-paced rollout into an initiative that employees genuinely embraced.

The Most Important Lesson

The real challenge is not to create more learning opportunities, but to create greater relevance: the role of L&D is not to offer more options, but to make the best choice crystal clear. The Allwyn Academy case demonstrates that training transformation can be fast and large-scale without sacrificing quality, provided you put the learner at the center and rely on the right partner. Adoption doesn’t stem from a single big launch, but from a series of consistent design choices.
